Assassin’s Creed in 2025 – A Nostalgic Nightmare? Bugs, FPS Lock, and Bare Minimum Effort...?

Mr. Fore

Playing Assassin’s Creed in 2025 is a nostalgic experience. I remember watching my brother play it for hours because, at the time, it felt too complex for me, and I wasn’t into single-player games. Even today, the game’s graphics hold up surprisingly well by modern standards.

The atmosphere and world design remain impressive, and the NPC density and facial animations—especially for a game from 2009—are quite good. The narrative is still compelling, and the combat, while decent, doesn’t particularly stand out. However, the camera is by far the worst part of the game, making certain movements and combat encounters frustrating.

While the visuals are still solid, the audio quality suffers from a low bitrate, which is unfortunate. It doesn’t completely ruin the experience, but it’s definitely noticeable and a letdown compared to the rest of the presentation.

Assassin’s Creed has too many flaws to enjoy

Unfortunately, nostalgia can only carry Assassin’s Creed so far. The game is riddled with bugs and technical issues that make it a frustrating experience.

First, the game literally will not function properly unless you force your monitor to VSYNC at 60Hz. Without this, eagle jumps will randomly kill you if your FPS is above 60. The ragdoll physics are hilarious but excessive, with bodies flinging in unrealistic ways. On top of that, frequent crashes make the experience unstable and frustrating.

It feels as if Ubisoft just got the game barely working and threw it out to the audience without proper polish. There’s also a complete lack of quality-of-life features, not even a borderless fullscreen option,.

Conclusion

Assassin’s Creed may have been groundbreaking back in the day, but playing it in 2025 exposes many flaws. The game still has its merits, but technical issues, lack of QoL updates, and frustrating bugs make it hard to recommend without mods or patches.
