RoboCop: Rogue City Delivers Brutal Action—But Is It Held Back by Its Flaws?

RoboCop Rogue City is authentic to the 80s and 90s films and keeps with its brutal Gorey style of the movies. The voice actor for RoboCop sounds just like the one from the movie. The game combines cop investigations, telltale decision-making, and FPS combat. The FPS combat sticks out and is very well done and satisfying, throwing chairs and TV with 400-foot pounds of force.
Satisfying Progression and Addictive Combat
The progression and skill tree are meaningful and offer a good advantage that makes the player want to explore to get more XP to level up. The combat is really good and dynamic, picking up enemies and throwing them is very satisfying. Guns sound great as well. The targeting system is 1:1 with the movies, and the game commits to the 90's aesthetics, which is nice to see.

Meaningful Side Missions and Enemy Variety
The side missions are meaningful and there are a lot of them, I even missed a few. There's a lot of gameplay for the price you can get the game on sale for. The enemy variety gets better and better as the game goes on, the variety is even more than God of War 2018. The ending is very satisfying and the final gameplay for it is very well made.

Technical Flaws and Load Screens
Unfortunately, the animation and character quality are pretty lacking. It also has a starfield level of loading screens, and every interior building and cutscene has a "fade to black" between them. When you even talk to a character, they do a fade to black to put you into a more cinematic camera. On top of that, there is a lot of texture popping. I ran into 1 crash and 1 game-breaking bug that spawned an enemy underground, forcing me to restart.

RoboCop: Rogue City Conclusion
Rogue City is a love letter to the classic films, capturing the movies with impressive attention to detail. The FPS combat stands out as a highlight of the game, alongside the meaningful progression system and engaging side missions.
However, the game is held back by dated character animations, frequent loading screens, and occasional technical issues like texture popping and game-breaking bugs. Despite these flaws, it offers a compelling experience that I have to recommend!
